July in SWH

Two weekends in a row artists took over downtown Southwest Harbor. First was the Flamingo Festival. The weather was uncertain leading into that weekend. I was not sure if it was going to rain like June did. Luckily, the fog and haze were there but the rain held off for Saturday which was great. The Parade went on for Flamingo Festival. However, Sunday was not the same story. Many artists, me included, did not come back for the Second day because Thunderstorms and rain were on the forecast. The Flamingo Festival had to cancel some of their outdoor events for Sunday due to the rain.

Last weekend the Island Arts Association was back in Southwest Harbor for their monthly summer event. The weather was on our side this weekend. Lots of sun and warmth. It felt like summer. There were new vendors at the event. I had a corner booth, which I feel like other vendors covet the corner spots, however I find the set up difficult. I tried my best with the set up in the corner booth layout, but it is never my favorite layout.

It is so nice to see many familiar faces in southwest harbor every time. I even met one of my regular customers granddaughters. It felt so nice to have someone tell me that I am their favorite artist. I blushed when the granddaughter confirmed she does not go around telling everyone that. It is going to be another month before the next craft fair in southwest harbor. It gives me time to create and restock new items for the fall and Christmas shopping. I am hoping to get back to local reviews and client features for the next few blog posts.
