Upcycling a Lobster Trap Table

During the middle of the COVID Pandemic, I lived on Cape Cod. I the summer of 2020 I got aggressively into my arts. I was made mosaics and stained glass. I going to antique store, thrift stores and scrolling Facebook marketplace to find unique items to upcycle into new pieces of art.

My largest mosaic project I completed that summer was the Lobster Trap Table Upcycle project. I found this amazing lobster trap table, vintage of course, with a removeable glass tabletop on Facebook Marketplace. I had a vision as soon as I saw it.

I used dry erase marker to test sizes and shapes for the lobster bead mosaic on the glass top. I used vintage bracelets, cut them twisted them out, painted them red, and then glued tons of tiny red beads to them to make the legs of the lobster. I found so many great beads to make a mixture of colors not just for the red on the lobster but the blank space.

It came to life for sure. The results speak for themself. I have held on to this item for quite a while because of the pride attached to making it but I must note that this item is currently for sale, local pick up only near the Ellsworth/Bangor/Bar Harbor areas of Downeast Maine.  Please direct message me. As its not listed on the website with a price since it is too large for me to accommodate shipping at the moment.
