This weekend I played hooky. No craft fairs. I spent some time on self-care on Mount Desert Island. I stopped by Acadia National Park at Thunder Hole for a picture and Echo Lake for a swim.
Next stop was Bar Harbor Cellars for a tasting. The Rose was delicious, a nice crisp taste for the hottest day of summer so far. Followed by a nice Cabernet Sauvignon, which had very rich flavors. Delicious. As a transplant to Maine from Cape Cod I couldn’t resist trying the Cranberry wine made with dry picked cranberries from Cape Cod. It was my favorite wine of the day. Saturday was 90 degrees in temperature the hottest day of the year, and I couldn’t help but imagine the cranberry wine turned into a spritzer with a lime seltzer and how delicious that would taste.
My 4th was the Apple Raspberry, I have a true affinity for apples, so I was excited to try this one. It was sweet and delicious, another one perfect for very hot weather. I finished my tasting with a true Maine specialty Blueberry Apple Cider. I have never tried such a unique and delicious cider. The carbonation was nice and made it feel very refreshing on the hot day.
I spent some time in the chocolate room at the Vineyard and brought some nautical chocolates home with me. Our server was great and so cheerful. She made the experience so much more fun each time she brough over the next round. I truly recommend a tasting at Bar Harbor Cellars if your visiting Mount Desert Island this summer. 5 different 1-ounce samplings of their wines/ciders for $12. What a deal! Maybe next time I’ll try pizza at Sweat Peas!
